ETHTURIN WAS THE FIRST LOCAL IMPACT
HACKATHON TO GO VIRTUAL
In only a few weeks, COVID19 pandemic has accomplished what Fridays for Future has long been fighting for: an immediate stop and re-thinking of our work, consumption and socialization patterns.
We, at ETHTurin, see it as a unique opportunity to build new solutions for decentralization and SDG/Local Impact. For this reason, we decided not to give up to COVID19, not cancel our hackathon and go Virtual with V-ETHTurin.
WHY WAS ETHTURIN RELEVANT?
ETHTurin welcomed hackers, companies and individuals who want to support and build applications with a clear environmental, social and governance (ESG) impact, using the Ethereum blockchain.
The workshops + hackathon were an opportunity to work alongside the developers, thought leaders, advisors and companies who are making the infrastructure and applications that will power a sustainable future for generations to come.
The occasion was also inclusive and educational, inspiring local communities through the creative design of blockchain applications.
There has never been a better time to be a part of this community to have a real impact on our city and society.
Attendees, speakers and hackers joined from anywhere as the event was online.

WHO PARTICIPATED?
Only 150 NFT tickets were available for hackers who wanted to build on their own projects, bounties proposed by our partners or challenges linked to Sustainable Development Goals (environment, UBI, governance, etc.) and Local Issues (pollution, COVID19 crisis, virtual solutions, urban garden, etc.). Prizes and surprises for hackers who submit final hacks.
Non-technical people were also welcome to attend the talks and the workshops as well.

VIRTUAL SPACES
The hackathon took place from Friday, April 24 to Sunday, April 26, 2020 and include a series of livestreamed talks, collaborative rooms, 3D spaces and VR, via Interspace.chat.
Most of the hacking happened in ETHTURIN Discord channel.

Quadratic voting was used to judge the pitches, the interface being provided by Deora.earth and Mintbase.

Companies and partners suggest specific problems for teams to work on. Bounties will be announced right before the hackathon starts. Bounty prizes paid upon completion.
